about

a vessel to contain the worst year of my life. take it all as you will, write it down if you must.

a few years back a notable american screenwriter turned director released a film that i loudly denounced to all my friends as "a fully grown adult with a very successful artistic career and works beloved by many proudly pissing his pants and making everyone look at exactly how the stain is tracing its way down towards his socks." well, look where we are now,

songs about almost dying, idiosyncratic ex-lovers, being scared by your own sexual proclivities, recovering from almost dying, and not being able to say the things you need to. songs from that inbetween state of not necessarily doing bad things, but not quite qualifying for that revered status of Good Person. songs that are True, if that is something that a song can Be, if not faltering from mine own Quivering And Inherently Flawed Subjectivity.

23 songs, 70 minutes. it takes a lot more than that to get to know someone, but i hope you'll at least get some sort of idea, because this is all for your benefit as much as it is for mine. more histrionics, i know, i know. there's a lot of fucked up shit happening all the time, and i ain't no angel, that's for sure. we are so informed by our historical precedents that we can't even see one another sometimes. ("good stories are bad lives" spake the prophets) if we have one thing left, it's that we can be honest. you can't bury the past, as pleasurable as that may seem.

to friends, lovers, enemies, strangers, i know i can be oh so tiring, but this record helped me a lot and i hope it helps you, too. every word is From Life, of course. it also Rocks Hard. you can trust me, honest. you mean everything to me. my life is your life is my life is your life. take me home with you and hopefully i won't have to think about any of this anymore.

best played at maximum volume, to completion.

ultimate love forever,
alexandria
